Cerebral arteriovenous malformation is a congenital local variation of cerebral vascular development. At the lesion, there is a lacking of capillaries between the cerebral artery and cerebral vein, which leads to a direct shunt from artery to vein, and causes a series of cerebral hemodynamic disorders. It is often characterized by repeated intracranial hemorrhage, focal or generalized epilepsy, transient ischemic attack, and progressive neurological dysfunction. It is also second cause of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage. |
